EVENT DETAILS
ART AROUND NAPA
📍 Gallery 1870 - Fine Art Napa
📍 1270 1st Street, Behind the Archer Hotel, Downtown Napa at First Street Napa
📅 Saturday, February 22 & Sunday, February 23
11:00 AM - 5:00 PM

For over two decades, Patrick O’Rourke has been one of the most beloved and sought-after artists capturing the breathtaking landscapes of Northern California Wine Country. From his majestic vineyard panoramas to the whimsical charm of his Mouseterpieces, O’Rourke’s art has left a lasting impression on collectors worldwide. Now, after a remarkable career in Romantic Realism, O’Rourke is announcing his retirement from painting following a stroke in 2023 that has made it difficult for him to create at the level he has been capable of.

To honor his extraordinary artistic journey, Gallery 1870 - Fine Art Napa will host a special retirement showcase featuring O’Rourke’s final available original paintings along with a curated selection of his limited edition canvas prints. This once-in-a-lifetime event will take place during Art Around Napa on Saturday, February 22, and Sunday, February 23, at the gallery’s new location in downtown Napa at 1270 1st Street, behind the Archer Hotel at First Street Napa from 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM.

A LEGACY OF ART & PASSION:

Born with an artist’s soul, Patrick O’Rourke picked up a paintbrush at just four years old, igniting a lifelong passion for art. For the past 64 years, painting has not only been his greatest joy but but for many of those years also his livelihood, allowing him to share his vision with collectors around the world.

Much of O'Rourke's portfolio has been inspired by the rolling vineyards, oak-studded hillsides, and misty mornings of Napa and Sonoma Counties, O’Rourke’s landscapes transport viewers into a world where light, texture, and depth bring the wine country to life.

Throughout his career, O’Rourke mastered the ability to capture the seasonal beauty of California’s wine country, from the lush greens of early spring to the golden hues of harvest. His work has been a top seller at Gallery 1870, earning him a loyal following among fine art collectors who cherish his unique blend of realism and romanticism.

Beyond landscapes, O’Rourke’s "Mouseterpieces" showcases his playful sense of humor, featuring charming mice engaging in mischievous and endearing adventures alongside wine, cheese, and candlelight. These paintings have brought joy and laughter to collectors, adding a touch of whimsy to his diverse portfolio.

Mouseterpieces by Patrick O'Rourke
Perhaps the most beloved "Mouseterpiece is "Off the Clock", a whimsical and charming painting that captures the essence of indulgence and relaxation. This playful scene features a content, wine-loving cat lounging with a glass of red in hand, surrounded by mischievous mice reveling in their own tiny soirée. With a bottle of Corison Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon setting the scene, and a clock signaling it’s officially time to kick back.

THE FINAL COLLECTION:

In 2017, Patrick O'Rourke suffered a devastating loss when the explosive Santa Rosa Tubbs Fire destroyed countless original paintings. Today, with only a few remaining originals available and his inability to paint, this Retirement Showcase presents a rare and unique opportunity to experience some of his finest works.

This exclusive exhibition offers art enthusiasts a final chance to view and acquire some of the last original paintings ever created by Patrick O’Rourke. Each piece stands as both a breathtaking visual masterpiece and a testament to his lifelong passion for art. In addition to original paintings, a selection of limited-edition canvas prints will also be available for viewing and purchase.

This collection represents the pinnacle of O’Rourke’s artistic journey—a final chapter in his incredible legacy. Whether you are a longtime collector or discovering his work for the first time, this special event is a celebration of an artist whose vision has beautifully captured the essence of Napa Valley.
